Dr David W Haslam, MB BS DGM

I am a full time GP Principle & Senior partner specialising in obesity, metabolic syndrome and related conditions. I am a Physician in Obesity Medicine at the Centre for Obesity research at Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

Other roles include: Clinical Director, & immediate former Chair National Obesity Forum. The NOF is an independent charity, formed in 2000.

Its aims are to increase  awareness of obesity as a medical condition in the context of cardiometabolic disease, and improve its management in clinical care. It undertakes sole sponsorship and secretariat of Government’s All Party. 

A Parliamentary Group on Obesity, and has an advisory role to Government Bodies, NICE, HSC etc. NOF Regional Obesity Groups currently forming with a remit to ‘roll out’ best practice in obesity management to Primary Care nationwide, backed by a ‘virtual’ internet based network, acting as an archive, database and forum for obesity-related activity.

  • Chair, Foundations Charity. Foundations aims to provide the foundation of healthy diet and lifestyle in schools and in Primary Care, in order to prevent obesity as well as eating disorders.
  • Executive Director, PCOS UK - the clinical wing of Verity, the charity for sufferers of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
  • Board member Counterweight programme
  • Member of the Editorial Board of Primary Care Cardiovascular Journal, and the British Journal of Cardiology
  • Visiting Lecturer Chester University
  • Author, writer and International Speaker on Obesity and cardiometabolic disease.
