Chief Diabetes Dietician for Secondary & Primary Care.
Diabetes Lecturer at
King College University of London since 1983.
Since qualifying in 1977 as a Dietician I have specialised in Diabetes.
I was appointed as the first full time Consultant Dietician for Diabetes UK in 1980. This involved lecturing and media work. I Developed the "traffic light carbohydrate countdown" and numerous books and leaflets to support the implementation of the first detailed Dietary Recommendations for Diabetes-published 1983.
I returned
to the NHS in 1988 and worked at St
Thomas Hospital
specialising in dose adjusting, managing diabetes in disadvantaged ethnic
groups and the management of Diabetes in Adolescents and pregnancy.
I joined L&D DM team in 2001 as lead acute service Diabetes Dietician. I was made responsible for primary & secondary care service in November 2004 to assist service improvements across primary /secondary interface.
