
Maureen Edovic is a Research Officer in the Institute of Diabetes for Older People (IDOP) at the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Postgraduate Medical School.
Maureen has a background in Biomedical Science. In 2007 she went on to complete an MSc in Public Health. Whilst on the masters’ programme Maureen developed a passionate interest in Diabetes and in 2008 she carried out a Diabetes Needs Assessment on behalf of the Luton PCT where she gained valuable experience and her interest in the subject matter intensified.
The completion of the Assessment prompted her to further her learning and in 2009 she was awarded a PgCert in Diabetes.
Prior to joining the University of Bedfordshire in 2010, she was employed as a Medical Laboratory Technician at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital within the Chemical Pathology department.
Her main area of research interest is Type 2 Diabetes, specifically within the Afro-Caribbean community. The project she is presently involved in incorporates contributing to and updating the IDOP website (Institute of Diabetes For Older People) and researching issues relating to diabetes in older people.
She is also a committed volunteer who is currently serving on the board of directors for Bedfordshire Body Positive, a local HIV/AIDS charity.
