I have worked for the University of Bedfordshire for about a year having transferred from the NHS with the Trainer Development Programme.
My background is as a fully
trained medical secretary, where I worked for a variety of medical and surgical
specialities in a small local hospital.
After five years, I transferred into private medical practice where I
was involved in the development and management of Patient Services, which
included all aspects of in-patient and out-patient appointments, admissions and
accounts.
During my time working there, the hospital transferred from being a privately owned and run hospital to being run by one of the major providers of private healthcare in the country.
The East of England Deanery
established the East of England Trainer Development Programme to enhance the
quality of medical education and training in the region.
The programme is
taught and managed by a team of highly enthusiastic and experienced clinicians,
who have first hand knowledge of the challenges involved in combining service
and teaching commitments.
In July 2007, the programme transferred to the medical school at the University of Bedfordshire, under the leadership of Clare Morris, Associate Dean.
I have administrated and
taught on the Trainer Development Programme since 2000, when the idea of
bringing all the parts of the programme together was instigated.
I have been heavily involved in developing the newer courses and in the search for a University to accredit this programme towards a PGCert.
I look forward to taking this programme further in the future.
