I have been a GP since 1979 in a 9 partner training practice in Warwickshire. I have been speaking and writing about diabetes since 1983 and have published 2 diabetes textbooks and over 150 articles, papers, and textbook chapters. I am a leading international primary care physician in diabetes.
I am also Associate Clinical Professor at Warwick Medical
School, Warwick University developing assessed accredited courses in
diabetes. To date over 5000 healthcare
professionals have taken the Warwick Certificate in Diabetes Care.
I am also clinical lead for the diabetes specialist library for the National Library of Health. I am currently a member of two diabetes guideline development groups for NICE, and is a founder member of the Primary Care Diabetes Society.
My
research interests include: Diabetes care, including footcare and care of the
elderly, especially those in residential & nursing homes. Diabetes care in
the community and diabetes education. Pregnancy
sickness symptoms. Natural history, aetiology and treatment.
I have undertaken the following research studies at Redroofs: 2 studies on pregnancy sickness symptoms - 3 peer reviewed papers published; 2 Phase Three new diabetes oral treatment studies 3 Phase Four diabetes oral treatment studies.
