Mr Stephen Burrell, MB BS BSc MRCP MRCOG MFFP

I have always been interested since medical school in medical complications in relation to pregnancy.

I am dually trained as a Physician and Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and particularly worked in Endocrinology.

I have been involved in joint Diabetic/antenatal care since 1992 and established the Joint clinic at Luton &Dunstable after I was appointed Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2000.

Medical Education has always been part of my professional life and currently I am the Undergraduate Lead for my Department and was appointed Senior lecturer at UCL. I am a Royal College Examiner.

I am currently Clinical Audit lead and Clinical Governance lead for my department.

With my breath and depth of knowledge and experience I run the maternal medicine clinic managing high risk pregnancy.

Additionally I run Fetal Medicine clinics where the well-being of the fetus is assessed both in terms of structure and development.

My research interests are currently being pursued in venous thromboembolism in pregnancy, the leading cause of maternal death.
