Mr Tariq Rehman, MD FRCP (Lond/Edin)

I have been a Consultant Physician in Medicine and Diabetes at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since February 2004 – prior to this appointment I worked as a Consultant Physician in Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology at the United Lincolnshire NHS Trust, Lincs. UK for seven years.

I have a wide clinical experience and have been working in the NHS since 1983. I have participated in acute medical emergency work in addition to speciality OPD work throughout my NHS appointments.

I am currently employed to do 10 PA related to direct clinical care.

I have been very involved in medical education which can be summarised as:

  • Foundation Programme Director at Luton & Dunstable hospital
  • Teaching & training of undergraduate & postgraduate doctors
  • Teaching & training of GPs & Practice Nurses
  • Examiner for PACES exam RCPE
  • Lead for Clinical Audit in diabetes at L&D Hospital
  • Lead for Clinical guidelines for the directorate of Medicine at L&D Hospital
  • Member of Academic Board of L&D Foundation Trust and BHPMS

In research, I am currently conducting multi-centre prospective randomised study- ROADMAP study.

I have launched “Metabolic Nurse Project”, the objective of this post is empower patients with cardiovascular risk & life-style modification to the risk and ensure optimum titration of therapeutic cardiovascular/ glycaemic interventions.
