I
have a broad range of experience in medical education and educational
leadership and is currently a Director of General Practice Education and
Faculty Development Lead in the London Deanery.
I am a visiting fellow at the Institute
of Education of London University,
where I am course leader for the MA in Clinical Education, an Honorary Senior
Lecturer at Imperial College
and a Visiting Lecturer at the Universities of Westminster and Bedfordshire.
I am the editor of the Understanding Medical Education series for the Association for the Study of Medical Education, where I also sit on the Executive. I am also an elected member of the inaugural Council of the Academy of Medical Educators.
Recent
publications include The Study Guide for GP Training (2003), The General
Practice Journey (2003), The Management Handbook for Primary Care (2004) and
Educational Leadership (2006). Published
research has included work on the general practice experience in the Foundation
Programme, workplace-based assessment for general practice training and the
quality monitoring of training practices.
More recently I have been intimately involved in the development of the Royal College of General Practitioners' curriculum, assessment programme and electronic portfolio.
I have been an active supporter of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Postgraduate Medical School since inception and gave the keynote presentation (on informal learning) at the first stakeholder conference.
